Scanning and prices
Which games
- Pokémon in English and Japanese: cards, graded slabs and sealed product.
- Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana and 20 more games in English: cards and sealed product. The photo tells ScanComps which game it is; manual search can look in one game or all of them.
- Slabs of the other games show no price yet: there are no graded sales to price them from.
- Sorcery and UniVersus cards carry no usable collector number, so ScanComps finds them by name and lists every version to pick from.
Taking a good photo
- Fill the frame with the card and keep it flat.
- Keep the card number and any edition marks (1st Edition, shadowless, promo stamps) sharp. They decide which printing it is.
- Avoid glare across the name and number. If a photo is too dark or blurry, ScanComps tells you before sending it, and you can retake it or send it anyway.
Picking the right card
When the photo matches exactly one card, you go straight to its prices. Tap Wrong card? to see other matches. When several cards could match, you get a list to choose from. Search works by name, set or number if you don't want to use a photo.
Condition, printing and grade
- Raw cards: pick the condition, Near Mint to Damaged. Holo, reverse holo and other printings are priced separately. If ScanComps can see a holo finish it marks it Detected, but you always confirm. Your last condition is offered first.
- Slabs: the grade is read from the slab label (PSA, CGC, BGS or SGC). Check it and change it if needed.
- Sealed product: booster boxes, ETBs, bundles and more. Check the packaging yourself; a photo can't verify a factory seal.
Where prices come from
- Raw cards and sealed: the current market price for that exact condition and printing, with its trend and how many sold this week.
- Slabs: the median of recent sold listings at that grade. Tap Sources to see the sales. When a grade has no recent sales, ScanComps shows an estimate from the neighbouring grades and labels it as one.
- Every other game: Near Mint is the market price with its trend. Other conditions show what the card is listed for right now (the median with shipping, or the lowest), marked Listed price.
- Every price shows the date it was last updated. Prices refresh daily.
Photos and privacy
A photo is only sent to be read with your permission. Photos are kept privately for 30 days to improve matching, then deleted, unless you turn on Keep my photos in Settings. You can turn photo recognition off in Settings → Privacy. Details are in the privacy policy.
